Yudit : A multilingual Unicode compliant editor
Yudit is a very simple , easy-to-use Unicode compliant multilingual editor. You can create a document where in the same document you can have all the world's scripts (almost).
Introduction

Yudit is a free (as in beer and speech) Unicode editor written by Gapsar Sinai. It supports writing in almost all of Indian scripts/languages including Devanagari(Hindi & Marathi),Gujarati, Bangla, Sanskrit,Tamil.
Installation

Follow the instructions given below or visit http://www.yudit.org
Installation on GNU/Linux:

1. You just have to type following commands on command prompt:

./configure
make
make install (as root)

1. By default the yudit executable is installed in /usr/bin/ directory. Other files will be placed under /usr/share/yudit.

2. Download the fonts and copy it into the /usr/share/yudit/fonts or ~/.yudit/fonts If you want to use any other truetype/opentype font that you already have, just copy it in one of the above directories.

3. Edit /usr/share/yudit/config/yudit.properties or ~/.yudit/yudit.properties and add the font file name in the field "yudit.font.TrueType"

e.g.
yudit.font.TrueType=Gargi-1.1.ttf, ...

2.Refer to Usage section to know how to enable Indian languages in Yudit.

Usage

Start Yudit. Switch the fonts to truetype. Type test in the command window. You'll get a multi-lingual document.

To enable Indian languages in yudit, follow instructions given below: There is a dialogue box for setting up the keymap. When you have installed yudit and you run it , you'll see a window with set of buttons on the top toolbar , as shown in figure below.

The last but one on the right (the one with 'Gujarati' on it) is for keymaps i.e. languages and corresponding input methods. Clicking on the button then add Devanagari and Gujarati to keymaps column.

Whenever you want to change your keymap i.e. switch to other language, click on the keymap button shown in figure above and select the keymap you want to use. The default keyboard is a romanized keyboard. See
